Yearning And Learning…
dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.
According to Wikipedia, “misogyny is a form of sexism used to keep women at a lower social status than men, thus maintaining the societal roles of patriarchy.”
It can be a magazine reporter neglecting the female lead asking her questions that don’t matter or a superior asking his female colleague if it's that time of the month because she dared to speak up for herself or moms teaching their daughters to be soft, hide their thighs and fake their smiles.
Misogyny manifests in numerous ways, including social exclusion, sex discrimination, hostility, androcentrism, patriarchy, male privilege, belittling of women, disenfranchisement of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification.
We often see people defending misogyny as ‘Conservative’ or ‘reserved behavior’ so many times that the line of difference between them has just blurred over the years.
Averse to change or innovation and holding to traditional values.
Stop hiding behind the term ‘Conservative’.
Girls say their father doesn’t let them work but they are grateful he at least let them study. Am I the only one who sees wrong in that? Do you not see why and how males are always hiding behind society’s need to keep women under the wraps? We can only make our lives better by speaking up for ourselves and for the generations to come.
Study. Learn. Understand. Differentiate. Teach.
Just saying that we respect women won't get us off the hook. To be better as a society there are so many things we have to unlearn. Stop forwarding those jokes that degrade females; that wives are what's wrong with society.
Help out the women in your family. Listen to what women have to say, no matter if it’s a board meeting or a family meeting. Don’t interrupt them while they are talking. Don’t teach that boys will be boys.
Transformation means we don’t know what will come but we definitely know what exists will not stay. Misogyny will not stay.
